Tendily LLC ("Tendily," "we," "us," or "our"), a Michigan limited liability company, operates the Tendily applications and websites at tendily.com and tendily.app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use, share, and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. We built Tendily to run a family's household — and we treat your family's information, especially your children's, as something to protect, not to profit from.
This summary is for convenience only; the full policy below governs.
Tendily is a mixed-audience family application used by both adults (parents and guardians) and children within a household. Adults create and control the family account. Children do not register themselves — a child is added to a household only by an adult account holder using a family access code, and each child profile is created and owned by the parent or guardian account. Section 6 explains how we handle children's information.
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers ("subprocessors") that operate Tendily on our behalf, under agreements that require them to safeguard it and use it only to provide their services to us:
We may also disclose information (a) to comply with law, legal process, or lawful government requests; (b) to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Tendily; or (c) in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the successor to honor this Privacy Policy or will give you notice and choice as required by law.
Protecting children's information is central to how Tendily is built. This section applies to personal information relating to children under 13 and reflects our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its amended Rule.
Children cannot create their own accounts. A child joins a household only when a parent or guardian adds them using a family access code. The parent or guardian account creates and owns each child profile and controls that child's information at all times. The access code is only a way to join a household — it is not, by itself, parental consent.
Before we collect personal information from a child, we obtain verifiable parental consent from the parent or guardian who adds the child. Consent is obtained through a combination of (a) the account holder's monetary subscription transaction and (b) an explicit, informed consent step presented to the parent at the moment a child is added, which describes what information will be collected from the child and how it will be used. We keep a dated record of the consent obtained, separately from the join event, and we do not treat use of a family access code as consent.
For a child profile, we collect only what the household features require — for example, a display name and the chores, tasks, or household items associated with that child. We do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary, and we do not knowingly collect more than the features you choose require.
At any time, a parent or guardian may (i) review the personal information we have collected from their child, (ii) refuse to permit its further collection or use, and (iii) request that we delete it. You can exercise these rights using the in-app controls or by contacting us at hello@tendily.com. Deleting a child profile removes the child's personal information as described in Section 7. Where we must verify that you are the child's parent before acting, we will do so using reasonable means.
We retain personal information for as long as your account or household is active and as needed to provide the Service, then delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed for those purposes. You may delete individual content, a member or child profile, or your entire account at any time from within the app. When you delete a child profile or your account, we delete the associated personal information from our active systems within thirty (30) days, and from routine backups within our normal backup rotation, except where we are required to retain limited records by law (for example, verifiable-parental-consent records and transaction records), which we keep only as long as legally required and then delete.
We maintain a written information-security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold. These include encryption of data in transit, access controls and least-privilege practices, a periodic risk assessment, and a designated individual responsible for coordinating our security program. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family's information and, if a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, and comparable laws in other U.S. states) to:
Because we do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing for you to opt out of in those respects. To exercise any right, contact us at hello@tendily.com; you may use an authorized agent where the law permits. We will verify your request using reasonable means and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.
Because we do not track users across third-party websites or services for advertising, we do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals. We simply do not engage in the tracking those signals are meant to limit.
Tendily is operated in the United States and is intended for U.S. users. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will provide reasonable notice — for example, by email to account holders or an in-app notice — and update the "Last updated" date above. For changes that affect how we handle children's information in a way that requires it, we will obtain new verifiable parental consent before those changes apply to a child.
